Benson and Poppy
Two of Zebedee's friends came over for a photo shoot today. First the handsome Benson.

Seaford Head to Cuckmere Haven
It was another lovely sunny day today and after racking my brains to try and come up with a new, exciting place where to go for a walk, I decided to go back to Seaford Head and walk towards Cuckmere Haven. Well, actually we ended up walking all the way to Cuckmere Haven as the weather was so pleasant. 2.5 hour walk all in all, including a couple of short breaks for Z to have a little rest. (Not me - honest.)
Starting at Seaford Head, looking back West towards Newhaven (which is only barely visible in the distance):
(I didn't mean to have Z in this photo, but he insisted being in it.)
Getting closer to Seven Sisters.
This kind of photography is relatively boring, but I couldn't resist... Just imagine complete silence apart from a bird song/cry here and there, looking out to sea... Perfectly calm and serene... hmmm, actually now makes me think of the film "Dead Calm".

After having (almost) raided someone's picnic on the beach, Zebedee had a little dip in the sea.
(Raiding people's picnics is becoming Z's regular stunt. I think I need to keep him on the lead wherever there are people having picnics about.)

I think it's almost autumn
What a lovely walk in Piddinghoe this morning!
Detail from the above photo - love the fact that the scene of the surroundings is copied (upside down) in each droplet.
It happened to be the highest tide I've seen the river, and the first ever boat I've seen sailing on the river!

Sunny day at Malling Down
Spent about three hours at Malling Down today. Was lovely!
The above photos are from the woods at the Lewes end of Malling Down. We met a very nice lad with a puppy and a human child and he showed me the way how to get to the top of the hill for the view over Lewes, and to the woods etc. Here's the view over Lewes: (Not that great, but I'll post it for the sake of it.)

In the evening we went to Birling Gap to see the sunset.

Castle Hill
This is another love note about the sea. I don't think I can ever get enough of its beauty.
We went to Castle Hill on two occasions today. First thing in the morning I ended up jogging all the way to the top of a hillock near Peacehaven, and back. In the afternoon we only walked half the distance and I didn't jog at all because I had sore hips from the run this morning! (I also jogged to Piddinghoe and back two days ago). But the light was marvellous in the afternoon. I can't get over the fact that the light is so different by the sea every day.
To the west of the fields we met a man and a dog, and while we walked back towards Castle Hill with him, he told me that he does volunteer work at the Newhaven Coastguard a couple of days a week. So he is one of the very friendly men I sometimes see waving at us from the watchtower (you'll see a photo of watchtower at the end of this old post from July).
I love the kind of light that you get when you have dark clouds in the background and evening sun lighting something in front, so I asked Zebedee to pose for me for this photo.

Still cloudy
Well, they say that it's going to clear up by the weekend, but until then - more clouds... (and not that impressive clouds at that)
Skittish little egret caught flying away in the distance. The river banks are so ugly at low tide that I don't mind that I have only the water as a background.... although would be nice to get a flying shot from the front of the bird! It seems fairly impossible to do when I'm just walking the dog, tohugh, rather than shooting from a hide-out like a proper wild life photographer; these birds are so skittish that they fly away before you get anyway near them - often before I have even spotted them.
In the afternoon we drove to pick something up from Heywards Heath, and on the way back got caught in terrible traffic on the A27 due to a traffic accident on the coastal road at Roedean near Brighton; the coastal road was closed, and as a consequence all other roads in the area were packed! It took us 1.5 hours to get to Kingston (would normally have been about 20 mins) and when we were there I saw a sign for a 16th century church so we went to have a look. (just to get a break from sitting in traffic!)
A lady just happened to be stepping into the church so I asked if I could come in, too. She said that yes, a few of them are going to have an evening pray and that I would be welcome to join them. I quickly exited the church and took some more photos outside. (Not that it was really worth taking any photos inside anyway!)
Zebedee got his pet passport last Friday and there is a place for a photo in it, so I better take his passport photo before we go abroad. Shall I go for a tourist look?
